Tea Service
The tea service is what made this hotel stand out for us. We liked stopping in for matcha before heading out into Tokyo, then coming back for a peaceful cup of tea after being out in the city.
On the second floor, staff prepare matcha at the Tea Counter. Hotel guests can come back for another cup during service hours. There’s also a shop nearby with tea, teaware, books, and gifts.

Room Description
The hotel was very clean. Our room had a good layout and enough space to feel comfortable. We liked the pale wood, green fabric, and warm lighting, including the sculptural lamp beside the bed.
For what we paid, we thought it was great value.

Breakfast at CHAYA 1899 TOKYO
This was the best hotel breakfast we’ve had in Japan.
Our plates included salmon, eggs, vegetables, rice, curry, soup, and small sides. There was matcha bread too, carrying the tea theme into the meal at CHAYA 1899 TOKYO on the first floor.

Morning buffet: 7:30–10:30 a.m., with last entry at 10 a.m. Check whether it’s included in your room rate. Current breakfast information ↗
A Quiet Street Near Shimbashi
The street outside was quiet, but busy Shimbashi and its business area were close by. We really liked that balance: convenient when we wanted to head out, peaceful when we came back.
We also walked to Tokyo Tower during our stay. The map below shows the walking routes to the tower and nearby stations.
