Our Stay at MUJI HOTEL GINZA
MUJI HOTEL GINZA takes the things we like about MUJI and turns them into a place to stay: warm wood, simple furniture, neatly organized drawers and very little visual clutter. The hotel sits above the brand’s Ginza flagship store, so a little browsing on the way back to the room can become a surprisingly large part of the day.
The design throughout was beautiful, and the location made this a practical base for shopping in Ginza and catching trains from Tokyo Station. The room’s take-home amenities were another highlight plus breakfast was convenient.
Where We Stayed — Type C Double Room
We stayed in the Type C Room with a Double Bed. Our room had a long layout, with a sofa and low table near the entrance and the bed on a raised wooden platform by the window. Warm lighting, pale walls and wood surfaces made it feel like we were still right within the MUJI department store. The sofa gave us somewhere to sit together without spending every moment on the bed.
There was a lot tucked neatly into the furniture: cups and tea supplies in a divided drawer, toiletries in another and an aroma diffuser on a shelf. A tablet controlled the lights, air conditioning and blackout curtains, and the room guide explained how to use the Bluetooth speaker. These are small details throughout and together they make the room fun to explore.
MUJI lists Type C rooms at 24–25 square meters, with a double bed for one or two guests. You can book a version with a bathtub or one with a shower only, so check that distinction before reserving if a soak matters to you. The official room page ↗ shows the different layouts.

Even the tea supplies had their own neatly divided drawer.

Everything Included: Our Free MUJI Amenities
Opening the drawers felt like finding a little MUJI starter kit. These amenities were included with the room, and the hotel even supplied a take-home list so we knew what we could pack. When we added up the products during our stay, we estimated a little over US$40 in included items.

Stay Right Above the MUJI Flagship Store
MUJI HOTEL GINZA is literally in the same building as the brand’s global flagship store. You can browse the shopping floors, take the elevator up to reception on the sixth floor, then continue to your room above. For a MUJI fan, being able to sleep upstairs from all of that is the whole attraction.
It feels like stepping inside MUJI’s idea of everyday life. Downstairs you can browse stationery, clothing, homeware and furniture then upstairs, you get to use the brand’s products in a real room. The warm wood, simple furniture and neatly organized drawers make much more sense when you can wander through the store and see the same design approach everywhere.
We loved having so much within the building when we wanted a break from walking around Tokyo. The hotel’s facilities page ↗ explains the shared flagship-store setting and current dining spaces.
The MUJI shopping floors are directly below the hotel.
A refillable pen display in the flagship store, just downstairs from our room.
Hotel reception is on the sixth floor of the same building.
Wooden guest-room doors and illuminated numbers on the eighth floor.
Breakfast at MUJI HOTEL GINZA
Our buffet included MUJI products alongside dishes such as eggs, fish, rice and soup. We liked the convenience of eating in the building before heading out into Ginza.
For planning your stay, WA’s current breakfast buffet combines Japanese and Western dishes, including MUJI products, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. The hotel lists breakfast at ¥4,000 including tax, served from 7:30 to 10 a.m., with last entry at 9:30 a.m. See MUJI’s breakfast details ↗ and check whether it is included in your rate.
Ginza Shopping, With Your Room Close By
In Ginza, you’ll be surrounded by flagship stores, department stores and luxury boutiques, with the option to drop purchases back at the hotel rather than carry them around all day. For a shopping-focused stay, having the MUJI store directly downstairs is a particularly enjoyable bonus.
The neighborhood is also lovely to explore on foot. On weekend afternoons, Ginza’s main shopping street becomes a pedestrian area, which makes browsing feel much more leisurely. For us, this part of Tokyo worked well near the end of a trip, when we wanted to do some last-minute shopping and keep Tokyo Station within walking distance. The Ginza pedestrian-zone guide ↗ lists the schedule.
If you have a longer stay in Tokyo, splitting it between Ginza and the west side can make sense. We often plan different neighborhoods into a trip so we can explore nearby sights, return for a midday break and spend less time crossing the city.
Luggage Forwarding and Storage
MUJI’s front desk can help send luggage onward, and the hotel can hold bags before check-in and after check-out. If you are sending luggage to the hotel, use your reservation name and arrival date, and follow its instructions for prepaid deliveries. For onward shipping, ask the desk about delivery dates before choosing a collection day, then keep what you need for the journey in a smaller bag.
